Los Angeles Clippers at Atlanta Hawks

Clippers opened a four-game East Coast swing Wednesday night with a 22-pt. loss in Orlando. They come here, play Washington Saturday night and finish in Minnesota Monday. The road has not been kind to the Clipps who are 8-20 S/U and 12-16 ATS away from Staples Center. At the end of a long, injury-plagued season don't expect them to put up much resistance in this one. The new-look Mavericks return to American Airlines Arena in another match up this week pairing a playoff team with revenge against an also-ran. We can`t blame the Pacers should they tucker-out tonight given the fact they are back on the road off a mini one-game home stand that was preceded by a three-game road trip. Toronto Raptors at LA Lakers

After a rare win (without Chris Bosh), the Raptors are in for a rude awakening when they travel down to Los Angeles for this match-up with the Lakers on Tuesday night. While the Raptors took advantage of a struggling Sonics club on Sunday they now face a top notch Lakers team that will be in a foul mood tonight. The Lakers just lost to Sacramento on Sunday night in a game which, admittedly, they were not prepared for. The Lakers simply overlooked the Kings and fell behind by double digits at the half. Los Angeles did respond and come back but they still fell a point short on the scoreboard. The Lakers had previously won six straight at home and this will serve as a ‘wake-up call’ for them. Los Angeles will take advantage of a Raptors team that has not been able to adjust without Bosh, their star player. While the Raptors did defeat the Sonics on Sunday, that game was at home. Now, the Raptors are on the road and they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. This one should be all Lakers!

That's a key factor in this contest considering Minny's 1-4 SU and ATS mark at home in games off back-to-back underdog victories. With Portland 7-1 ATS the last eight games in this series, look for the Blazers to get back on the win track at Minnesota's expense here tonight. Portland is not a strong defensive team ranking 15th in forcing turnovers at 13.4 TOPG. Note that Minnesota is 9-19 ATS versus poor pressure defensive teams that are forcing <=14 turnovers/game this season. Minnesota is also just 7-15 ATS versus teams who are called for 21 or less fouls/game this season.

This line has come down slightly from its opening number, providing us with solid value on the home favorite. It's true that the Pacers haven't won too often lately. However, they've also been playing some top tier teams, most recently on the road vs. the likes of Cleveland, San Antonio and Houston. Facing a Seattle team which is just 6-26 on the road should provide an excellent opportunity for them to break into the win column. Therefore, its worth noting that when the Pacers have won, they've mostly done so by a comfortable margin. In fact, their most recent three victories have all come by double-digits. Looking back further and we find that each of their last four wins have come by a minimum of eight points and that 15 of their last 17 victories have come by a minimum of six points.

The Sonics have lost four straight and each of their last three losses came by a minimum of eight points. Looking back a bit further shows that seven of their last eight setbacks have come by a minimum of six points with those eight defeats coming by an average of greater than 14 points. The Sonics turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 30 points by the Raptors in their latest loss. That marked the fourth time in five games in which they have allowed a minimum of 20 turnovers. Look for that type of "sloppy" play to prove costly this evening, as the revenge-minded Pacers improve to 5-1 ATS after having played their previous three games on the road.
