At first glance, this line seems a little on the high side. After all, the Mavs may have slipped to fourth in the Southwest but they're still one of the top teams in the league. However, a closer look reveals that they've struggled on the road all season (14-18 SU/ATS) and that they're in an extremely difficult scheduling spot here. While the Jazz had yesterday off, the Mavs were involved in a hard-fought nationally televised battle with the Lakers. Note that the Mavs are 0-3-1 ATS the last past four times that they played the second of back to back games and 3-8-1 ATS their last 12 in that situation. This isn't just your typical back to back spot though. For starters, yesterday's game went to overtime. More importantly, this will also mark the Mavs' fourth game in the past five days, all four in different cities. That's as gruelling as it gets in the NBA and tonight they'll be playing at one of the league's toughest venues. Indeed, the Jazz have yet to lose here in 2008, recording 15 straight wins here since Boston beat them back in late December. Note that the Jazz were 10-5 ATS during that stretch and that 13 of the 15 victories came by a minimum of six points. Including a nine point win here back in December, the Jazz are also a healthy 8-2 ATS the last 10 times they were a host in this series. They should have the "fresher legs" and I look for them to continue their home winning streak for another night.

After knocking off Utah and Phoenix in their last two games, the Hornets are sure to be a popular "public" pick today. Those games were both at home though and this is is a lot of points to be laying on the road, particularly against a Washington team which has been playing well of late. While the Hornets are 5-8 ATS their last 13 games, the Wizards have overcome their injury issues and quietly gone a profitable 7-2 ATS their last nine games. That includes an outright upset at New Orleans less than a week ago and a comeback victory over the Bulls, after falling far behind by as many as 18, in their most recent game. Both those victories should give them some added confidence for this evening's game.

The Hornets haven't fared well in March the past couple of seasons, going just 8-21 SU and 11-18 ATS. That includes a 22 point loss here on 3/17 last season, which dropped them to 1-6 SU/ATS their last seven visits to Washington. Its also worth noting that the Hornets are just 14-26 SU (14-25-1 ATS) the last 40 times that they played a road game with an over/under line ranging from 190 to 194.5. The Wizards are 4-2 ATS (12-8 ATS last 20) on Sundays this season, including a 2-1 mark with a pair of double-digit wins here at home.
