New York Rangers at Calgary Flames
Despite a cross-country trip, the edges here belong to the Rangers. New York has had plenty of time off between games so the trip to Western Canada won't bother them. Also, the Rangers are full of momentum right now while the Flames could definitely be caught in a "flat spot" here. Calgary is off of back-to-back big home wins. The Flames knocked off the defending NHL Champion Anaheim Ducks in their first game of this three-game home stand, then knocked off the Canucks in their first win over Vancouver this season! The two big game wins the Flames just notched will leave them a little flat here. That's especially true with a non-conference opponent coming to Alberta for a visit.
As for the Rangers, they see this road trip as a perfect opportunity to sustain the momentum. The Rangers have recently rallied to notch two of their three wins in their current streak. New York feels like no matter what happens their never out of a game right now because they've been so resilient in notching come back wins. They also have seen their offense come to life as, in addition to scoring late goals, their other game in the three game streak was a 6-1 blowout of Toronto.
The Rangers are a very confident club with Henrik Lundqvist playing well between the pipes. Couple that with a resurgent offense and you have the makings of team that is very likely to sustain their winning streak.
One final important note has to do with special teams. The Flames were successful on the penalty kill against Vancouver in their most recent win. However, prior to that their penalty kill unit had struggled and you can bet that the Rangers power play unit will be ready to take advantage of this tonight.
Go Rangers!
Good luck!
